Inglewood Mayor Roosevelt DornInglewood Mayor Roosevelt Dorn is facing criminal charges for improperly taking a loan in 2004 under a city-sponsored program.
Dorn, a three-term incumbent, took out a $500,000 loan, investigators say, to help pay off a mortgage and for his own personal use. The low-interest loan program in which Dorn obtained the funds was intended to help city workers afford to live in Inglewood.
The complaint filed against Dorn charges that the mayor used his office to manipulate city funds for his own financial gain.
Dorn, 72, is an Oklahoma native. He won reelection in November.

Dorn
As an Inglewood homeowner I am so happy that he is finally being made accoutable to his wrong doings. He is so quick to critisize so many people. Especially people who dare to cross him or disagree with him. He has cost Inglewood millions of dollars, he has talked down to residents who dare to question him at Council Meetings. His arraignment will be July 24th, and he plans to have a town hall meeting that night. Some think it will be a Swan Song, I hope its "Good Riddance!!!" He will swear he never did anything against the law, never abused the citizens of Inglewood, brought jobs to the city. He's full of baloney!!! Thank God it is almost over.
Dorn
Get him out of Inglewood! Thank you Cooley!
Mayor Dorn and People v. Chacon
The case that sealed the Mayor's fate, clearing the way for the DA to file charges last week is People v. Chacon which is enlightening.
A Google search will allow you to find and read the case.
Criminal Charges
This appears to be not simply a criminal act, as the Mayor also voted to extend the program meant to assist city employees in obtaining low-interest loans-which he has clearly used for his own personal gain, this is a tremendous conflict of interest. It is disgraceful that Mayor Dorn, a former Judge would manipulate city funds. It will be interesting to observe what occurs after his arraignment on July 3, 2008. This is a sad day for the decent citizens of Inglewood, California. If Mr. Dorn is convicted on felony charges, certainly this would justify impeachment.
