Cook narrowly outpaces Rohrabacher in 2nd quarter money

Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook has outraised Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) in the second quarter, according to fundraising reports made public Tuesday.

Cook took in $92,990 between April and June and had $97,392 in cash on hand at the close of the reporting period. Rohrabacher, meanwhile, raised $78,712 during the period and had $387,950 on hand.

Cook has raised $157,269 during the course of the cycle, while Rohrabacher has raised $323,966.

Cook’s challenge to Rohrabacher, a ten-term incumbent, is widely seen as something of a long shot. The 46th Congressional District has a conservative voting history, supporting President Bush with 55 percent and 57 percent of the vote in the last two elections.

Comments

Cook is coming on from the outside.

With the election being fully joined money is starting to hunt the eventual winners in November.

Rohrabacher has eight years of the Bush Administration, the Iraqi war, the failing economy and America's use of torture to account for. Where was his oversight?
