McCain to speak on environment in Santa Barbara

U.S. Sen. John McCain: Getty Images PhotoU.S Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has added a Tuesday morning appearance in Santa Barbara to his California swing, with his campaign Web site saying the presumptive Republican presidential nominee will have an environmental briefing.
The appearance will be at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, with doors opening at 7:30 a.m. The event is open to the public and McCain is scheduled to speak at about 9 a.m.
Monty Ward, chair of the Santa Barbara County Republican Party, said he's unsure of what McCain plans to say at his appearance, but noted it could be a follow-up to his push last week for more offshore oil drilling, including in California.
A handful of oil derricks operate off the coast near Santa Barbara, but a spill there in the late 1960s hardened state residents' opposition to widespread drilling off the California coast.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a McCain ally, is on record as opposing any offshore drilling expansion in California.
McCain spoke at a town hall meeting in Fresno Monday morning, and according to press accounts took questions on such topics as the war in Iraq, gas prices, illegal immigration and his presumed rival for the presidency, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).About 600 people attended that event.
McCain was also attending a private fundraiser in Fresno after the town hall meeting. McCain's campaign staff would not disclose how many people attended the fundraiser or how much it raised.
The Arizona senator is scheduled to attend another fundraiser in Riverside on Tuesday afternoon.

Don't let them lie to you about there not being enough farm land. We have over 100 million total farm acres in the USA and only use about half. The half that's not being planted is more than enough to grow ALL our fuel. Not only that but the government is still paying farmers not to plant. Hemp can produce several different kinds of fuel. In the 1800's and 1900's hempseed oil was the primary source of fuel in the United States and was commonly used for lamps and other oil energy needs. The diesel engine was originally designed to run on hemp oil because Rudolf Diesel assumed that it would be the most common fuel. Hemp is also the most efficient plant for the production of methanol. It is estimated that, in one form or another, hemp grown in the United States could provide up to ninety percent of the nation's entire energy needs.

Hemp will produce cleaner air and reduce greenhouse gases. When biomass fuel burns, it produces CO2 (the major cause of the greenhouse effect), the same as fossil fuel; but during the growth cycle of the plant, photosynthesis removes as much CO2 from the air as burning the biomass adds, so hemp actually cleans the atmosphere. After the first cycle there is no further loading to the atmosphere...

What will straight talking, maverick John McCain say to the good people of Santa Barbara about the ecological virtues of his plan to open the cost of Ca. to drilling for oil?
If McCain raises more money in California then he spends here the fundraising would be worth wild, otherwise forget-about-it. McCain's call to open the cost to drilling for oil will not get him elected in California.
Old John is doing more flip flops then a man his age should have to.
