Rolling backhanded salute to President Bush scheduled for stop in San Francisco

The "Bush Legacy" bus at a stop in Newark, N.J.: Politicker PhotoThe "Bush Legacy" bus at a stop in Newark, N.J.: Politicker PhotoAs a counterpoint to what supporters of President Bush call his final "legacy" year in office, a well known progressive issue-advocacy group has fashioned a rolling museum to highlight what they call the "failures" of the Administration over the last eight years.

The so-called "Bush Legacy" bus tour will arrive in San Francisco Saturday and will be open to the public and is being sponsored by Americans United for Change. The 45-foot long, 28-ton, clean bio-diesel museum on wheels features several interactive exhibits.

Former U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" CunninghamFormer U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" CunninghamThe Associated Press is reporting this week that convicted former San Diego area Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham has asked President Bush to grant him clemency.

Cunningham, a Vietnam-era Navy fighter ace, is currently serving federal prison time for accepting millions of dollars in bribes.

    Mission Accomplished? Bush sewer plant measure qualifies for SF ballot in November

    A couple friends thinking of a way to "memorialize" the Bush presidency have taken a whacky, beer-soaked concept from mere idea to political reality this week.

    On Thursday the San Francisco Department of Elections officially certified a city ballot initiative that, if approved by voters, will rename a sewer plant in the soon-to-be ex-president's honor.

    Schwarzenegger thanks Bush for help with wildfires

    Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger thanked President Bush Thursday for federal assistance with state wildfires, as the two men conducted an aerial tour of scorched areas in Shasta-Trinity National Forest, near Redding in Northern California.

    "Thanks to this great coordination, we have been able to obtain and utilize resources from the federal government, 40 states and a number of international partners," Schwarzenegger said in a press release. "We face more challenges in the hot and dry summer months ahead-as we help people put their lives back together and stay prepared for inevitable future fires-and I look forward to the President continuing to be our partner in this effort."

    Bush's announcement lifting executive ban on OCS oil drilling roundly condemned

    Even before President Bush formally delivered his Monday Rose Garden announcement that he will lift the executive ban on outer continental shelf oil drilling, California lawmakers were jumping on the action as a profoundly bad idea.

    Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger slammed President Bush on This Week with George Stephanopoulos due to the Environmental Protection Agency's recent decision not to take further action against global warming during the remainder of Bush's presidency.
