Democrats are favorites to hold Lieber seat

Term limits are forcing Assemblywoman Sally Lieber to leave office at the end of the year, and  four Democrats are vying in the June Democratic primary to succeed her: Santa Clara Councilman Dominic Caserta and college professor Paul Fong are viewed as the leading contenders, along with Cupertino Councilwoman Kris Wang and Santa Clara Board of Education Trustee Anna Song.  Caserta is the leading fundraiser, while Fong leads in the party endorsement game.  The 22nd Assembly district leans Democratic, and the winner of the June 3 primary will be the favorite to hold the seat in the general election against Republican Brent Oya, a political newcomer.
