    State Republican party releases list of Electoral College designees

    The slate of California Republican Party designees to the Electoral College vote includes the current governor and two people reportedly eyeing that job in two years.

    The party released Friday its list of people who would cast a vote for Republican presidential nominee John McCain in the Electoral College vote on Dec. 15.

    Whitman possible Treasury secretary under McCain

    Republican presidential nominee John McCain listed Meg Whitman on Friday as a possible Treasury secretary in his administration, if he's elected.

    Asked by Reuters about who would run the agency that oversees U.S. economic policy and financial reserves, McCain named Whitman, a former eBay CEO, among others.

    Poizner gets endorsement from seven former GOP state chairs

    Seven former California Republican Party chairs have backed Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner's bid for governor in 2010.

    Poizner announced the endorsements of those chairs in a press release that included comments from some of them.

    Whitman lends endorsement to redistricting ballot measure

    SACRAMENTO - Meg Whitman, the woman credited with turning eBay into a multibillion-dollar Internet auction site and a person believed to have been on Sen. John McCain's short list for vice presidential running mates, endorsed Prop. 11, the redistricting initiative on the Nov. 4 ballot on Thursday.

    Poizner opens exploratory committee for 2010 gubernatorial run

    California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner announced his opening of a 2010 exploratory bid for governor Monday, immediately putting him in the front tier of Republicans to replace Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

    Poizner, rumored to be interested in running for the job for months, said in a campaign announcement that his campaign would focus on fostering innovation in government and business.
