Clinton to help relaunch Buell PAC

WomenCountPAC, the political action committee founded by prominent California Hillary Clinton supporter Susie Tompkins Buell, is being re-launched at the Democratic National Convention later this month with Clinton herself headlining the event.

The organization, which in the closing days of the Democratic primary contest took out advertisements in prominent newspapers pushing back against those urging Clinton to drop out, announced plans in July to help promote the candidacies of women running for elected office.

Attending the Aug. 26 event along with Clinton will be U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio) and several other U.S. House and U.S. Senate candidates the organization is supporting. Chelsea Clinton may also attend, a spokeswoman for WomanCountPAC said.

The organization expressed outrage about what it saw as sexism in the media’s coverage of the primary contest. Since refocusing its efforts from Clinton, the organization has called for language in the Democratic Platform condemning the coverage.

Buell's Clinton-backing PAC continues efforts

Barack Obama’s victory in the Democratic presidential primary hasn’t pushed WomenCountPAC, the political action committee founded by prominent California Hillary Clinton backer Susie Tompkins Buell, to shutter its efforts.

The organization is preparing to take out a full page advertisement in the New York Times in the next week that will call on the Democratic Party to focus on issues that are of concern to women, PolitickerCA.com has learned.

Rosemary Camposano, a spokeswoman for WomenCountPAC, said that while “the core of the group supported Hillary,” the organization wanted to make sure that women-focused issues central to Clinton’s candidacy, such as health care and abortion rights, remained in the public spotlight.

San Francisco's Buell launches pro-Clinton PAC

Susie Tompkins Buell, the San Francisco clothing magnate who helped to head up Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s fundraising operations in the Bay Area, has started up a political action committee aimed at supporting Clinton in the final weeks of the primary campaign.

“Every vote MUST be heard. Every state MUST be included. NOBODY has the right to ask Hillary to step aside when so much is on the line,” wrote Buell in a Tuesday fundraising appeal posted on Mark Halperin’s The Page.
