Former California Republican Party Chairman Duf Sundheim says that former Rep. Tom Campbell would make a strong gubernatorial candidate in 2010, according to a story in PolitickerCA.com. Sundheim listed Campbell, the GOP U.S. Senate candidate against Dianne Feinstein in 2000, along with Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner and CEO’s Carly Fiorina (Hewlett-Packard) and Meg Whitman (E-Bay).
Republicans say that Campbell, now the Dean of the Business School at University of California, Berkeley, hasn't lost his itch to run for office -- and he shouldn't be counted out as a candidate for Attorney General in the next statewide election.
June 8, 2010, may seem like a long time from now, Democratic candidates for California governor already lining up. Here's the rundown.
